I need a very cheap high current driver

Hello,
1. I have a DVD burner 48X diode. I'v already built a 20X red and I'v putted 340mA's to it. This time, 'cause it's a 48X diode, does it mean I can put higher current to it, such as 600-700mA?

2. If so, then I need a nice little driver board that can reach 700mA and is under 10$, sorry about the low price.

P.S, this laser will not be portable so the driver doesn't have to be a boost\buck driver.

Great but what about the first question?
because it's 48X I need to get it 650mA?

The best red diode is the LPC-815/826 and they max out at 400-500mA. Your 48x diode won't go over it.

It depends on how efficient your diode is...no one can give you an answer.

would not recommend trying to get a singe red laser over 500mw.
If you do it will have a short life.
Best bet is 2 lasers combined to get around 475-600mw.
all you need is 1 pbs cube 20 -25$ and 2 red lasers. shine them into the cube right and you can combine there power (depending on cube minor losses).
