The diode is obviously of SCC type - Small Closed Can.

I would not reccomend driving it to more than 250mA. Anywhere between 200 and 250 mA will do fine and you'll know you'll be getting the maximum out of the diode.

It will output somewhere around 150mW to 200mW, depending on the drive current, diode efficiency, and lens used.

What kind of driver did you plan on using?

Hey nevo....

Resize your pics to 800 X 600.....
It takes 4 computer screens to see anything and
it makes it next to impossible to read your text...

Better yet, don't resize, but rather crop out what's important on the picture - for future pictures.

Don't worry Bee, I got this. :p

@JohnTheRipper - show off :na: It fits on my screen(s) too:

@Eudaimonium and what did i told him ( yep ~ 200 mA ) and i gave him some info in PM aswel for a flexdrive becasue he PM´d me

plus better not give the diode max current or he will come again asking why it´s not working anymore :)

First thing you'll notice is that I always give my advice about maximum current ratings regarding *long life* of the diode.

I once had an SCC working on 350mA, pushing out quite some power (only for a few seconds as a test). I did NOT say 350mA is maximum current.

I said 250mA is maximum current, at which it'll live a few years.

I don't know about you but back when I knew little about lasers and I was constructing my own crude builds, I was always wondering how high can I push it, can I get more power... etc.
I am offering those answers plainly here to this new fellow.

250mA or +/- few mA, you're at your maximum, and no that does not mean it'll die soon.

I hope this clears it up a bit, weeba2kv.

Now to the question at hand,
Nevo - the driver will work if you're able to provide it's input voltage characteristics, stated "4-6V". Which is a little weird, no drivers that I know of have such strict measures, but you should experiment on your own a little.

See if it works with one lithium ion battery. If not, try two. Use test load when setting the current - search around a bit :)

I believe people also discussed that particular driver a while back, but can't remember clearly, try google searching the forums.

Man....this makes my 42" 37"(side by side) setup with my 2 Alienware laptops
look like a childs play thing...not to mention your ARSENAL makes my collection look like a box full of BB guns. .i kinda hate you right now. however...when the zombie apocalypse breaks out....i WILL be stopping by.(dont worry im a good shot! Army Trained!)...i will bring the beer!

Yeah, wait till you see that thing in the up edge, middle, is not a replica.

Kiddin', picture sent to me by a friend, no idea where's it from but I am also caling Photoshop on it.

Back to topic at hand,

Nevo, any problems, you can PM me first before opening treads. You can see people around here aren't too keen on having threads asking things that have been asked and answered before.
Cheers

Ok Eudaimonium thank you for that explonation but i was a lilbit thinking as that most people pushing diodes to the max , sorry for mistaken you
