Is there someone who has any experience with the 150 mW, 643 nm Opnext HL6385DG? I assume it is quite expensive.

I don't see why you would want a 643 nm diode...it's just as good as a 658nm one.....a 635nm is better in terms of visibility. Besides,
TE mode oscillation
no thanks. ::)

658 nm is too long and I don´t know of any high power 635 nm diodes. That is why I am interested in knowing more about the 643 nm diode.

What is this, and what is its effect on the diode´s or its light´s behavior?

Too long for what? :-/
If I'm correct TE mode oscilation would mean it shifts modes.Who know between what TEM it shifts but you're definatly not going to have a single nice round dot all the time :p
