Hey i saw ur thread and thought i might give you some info about what i have learned here.

From what i understand 5mW of anything is harmless but i would strongly suggest not pointing it at anyone including yourself. I would also suggest buying a pair of safety glasses especially if you ever get anything above 5mW. Now 5mW of red probally wont go further than 100 feet at night but its a good starter laser as im sure we all had these at one time before we all got high powered lasers....i mean who hasebt had a cheapie laser . As for your interest in lasers, if you ever decide you want another laser look around. I suggest if you ever buy another laser to get a 5mW green one. Its about as harmless as the red cept its green and goes about 50x as far! You can usually get a cheapie green for about 15$ shipped and please stay away from ebay. I paid 12$ for a ebay laser and it lasted 30 mins. I also waited 3 weeks for it.
