Please create some power/current graphs before any catastrophic damage occurs with the diode.

I reckon a AW IMR battery would be capable of driving it for a few minutes :D Although runtime might take away from the fun factor.

Murder diodes arrived today. Testing on the first is done. I should have time to test the second by Friday night. It doesn't LED even at very high current; it drops in power with increased current a lot like the ebay "false alarm 638" a few weeks ago. There does seem to be some degradation though that results in a permanent power loss of ~30%.

Need more info please

Per the data sheet for the 500mW diodes, typical current is 650mA's, 800 max...

But of course it will be easier on our battery/heat concerns, being a 2(ish) volt diode vs the 445's and blu-ray builds.

For small builds, I'm sure it can use a FlexDrive with a 10440. But better, will be a CR123 host, or a 14500...

Awesome. Post some more data when you have time. Wonder how much that "very high current" is

Can't wait for the results........ if these can be safely pushed to 800mA.... class 4 635's:drool:

Whenever the 500mW LD's show up, count me in for the murder fund on those:)

I am sure he will get back with us tomorrow as he said that would be when he has time to continue the testing. Although it would be good to hear what the shutdown current was and the point where it started getting diminishing returns.

Diminishing returns is one of the reasons I put the 1.8A ceiling on the 445. It can take more current but even with a highly efficient one they start returning less and less output mW per input mA after 1.8A.

IF that is the Case I wonder what my Freak will do at 800mA.

Iam Guessing ~600mA.

cyp must be really busy... he hasnt replied to my pm and he is usually quick.

Yes, I think he is. He is very quick with PM's. I think he said the second diode he is testing will be done on by Friday.:) So Tomorrow we should have all the results or Saturday the latest.

He might want to test both of the diodes out before he give a Final report.

I love this diode! They really look amazing and there brand new as well... For $69 bucks I said eh whatever I guess I'll get one. Thank God I did get one before they sold out because it was soooo worth it :) Also I used this diode in my 3-In-One build I dubbed The Trinity... Link is in description ;) You all have a nice day.

Yes, sorry, I've been pretty busy. Classes started a couple weeks ago. I still have some work to do. I don't want to divulge too much until they're both tested.

Power/voltage/wavelength Graphs should be up by tomorrow night.

It is all good. I got a little impatient myself and did some testing of my own tonight. Actually out of the 30 units that I got one of the diodes had a loose diode window so I kept that one. I decaned it tonight and mounted it in my Maxsink. Then I proceeded to do some testing on it. I am still really looking forward to seeing the results from Cyparagon especially the wavelength sift data.

Here is a video I made. I will say my current guess is that they can be safely driven @ 550-600mA but I will need to put some more time on one @ 600mA and see if it degrades. Now you are going to love this.:eg:

Test was done with a G-2 lens.
