Hello, i bought this laser diode in a aixiz module: HighTechDealZ - 650nm 20x DVD Burner LPC815 Laser in Aixiz Module.
Also i got a laser goggle to build my own first laser.

Unfortunately i am very new to this topic so i need some help from you. I need a driver right ? Where can i get one which is suitable to my needs ? I also want to add a push button to turn the laser on or off. I just thought i connect the positive lead from the diode and the positive lead from my 2 AA's battery holder to my button and the negative ground from battery to the diode and fire it up. But i read that i need a driver. So how can i get one and how would my setup look like with this driver ?

Thanks !

You ought to go read the "I Want To Build a Laser" thread. Should be in the Tutorials section, stickied and at the top of said section.

After reading come back and ask for clarification rather than everything

For a red laser I would probably go with the Mohgasm driver HERE. This is the one I am using for my red laser build. Alternatively you can make your own driver by using an LM317T Voltage Regulator and the right resistors.

What are you putting it in to? Also, why use AA batteries? Lasers have a high current draw so you will be going through AA's fairly quickly...I would suggest some 16340 LiIon Batteries. Also called CR123's. But yes, the one you linked should work as well.

You could also use an AMC driver @ 350 or 380 mA depending on which chip the board has..itll only be one! You can get them from DX or Kaidomain and theyll be around $2 - $3, they will also offer modes and you only need 1 battery. Having said that the Mohgahsm driver is excellent and Moh ships very quickly...ie you wont have to wait a month for it to be shipped from HK;)

Edit: You queried the current in post 6? On the link you posted, the guy states; "I recommend driving these at 380mA to get a high power at around 180-300mW,..."

No idea where you got 23 euros from? If you are talking about a Moh linear, he charges around $5 or less to ship to europe. The AMC drivers from DX, Kaidomain etc all have free shipping...

Edit: Please put your location in your profile and people will be more prepared to assist you. If we have no idea where you're from, how are we to help in shipping cost estimates???

Sorry i thought i entered my location information when i registered. I am from Germany. On the Mohgasm page i clicked on estimate shipping and it turns out that i costs about 23.95$ to ship it to me.
The AMC driver is round and i really like to have a linear driver for my project because it fits better. Also i am not sure how to connect all my stuff to this driver the linear looks a lot easier.

Actually both are linear drivers ;)

Im guessing its an error on his page. I have ordered many things from Moh and shipping to the UK and Poland was the same and around $5 for several items including C6 hosts! Id suggest sending him a PM to ask whats wrong here's a link: Laser Pointer Forums - Laser Pointers and Laser Pointer info - View Profile: Mohrenberg

Edit: Just checked and Im also getting strange prices...I have PMed Moh to see whats up. Will let you know the outcome.
