Hey whats up,

So my little bro got mad at me so of course he goes for what I loves most and he gets my laser and threw it out the door literally. It landed on the focusing ring. It bet the plastic aixiz lens down on the side it hit and compacted it it seems into the head of the module. I have tried to get it off, the focusing ring broke off but the lens will not budge. Not sure what to do so any suggestions would be helpful.

I am going to post pics, also if you want to copy this build for like a cool 10mw little pointer that will run forever. Here is link to module:
AixiZ

I don't know no excepting my pics but you get the jist of my problem. Just PM me if u wanna know how to build. I know someone is going to be like does it burn not i does not but its a fun safe laser.

Ps Let your little bro play ps3 when he is next to one of your lasers.

LOL.. lesson learnt! ok on to the problem! I think your best bet is to get a vice and put the lens into the vice.. next take some plyers and wrap something around it... like leather. Then twist the lens off. if you dont have a vice you can use plyers or vice grips instead.

you can buy blank aixiz modules from modwerx.com

heres the link Laser focusing module

Then you can just swap out the lens.. assuming the threads on the original module is still ok!

hope that helped! -Adrian

That's ok.. you just need to get it out! you can buy a replacement for ~$3 do as I said and it should come out easily! otherwise you can try PM'ing another member and see if they can do it for you!!

hope that helped! -Adrian

I just had a similar thing happen where, after threading the laser module into a heatsink, the damned lens assembly froze up in the barrel. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
I tried everything and it would rather mush than move.
To salvage the diode I ended sawing the module wall off to get the lens out of the way.
I wonder why they use nylon for the lens assy...
I think that I'm going to find a glue that has a chance of sticking to nylon and glue the adjusting ring onto the lens assy before putting a lot of effort into a unit.
Man that buggered my project - and evening.
GGggrr...

By the way, I am now going back and gluing the focus ring onto the lens assembly.
I've tested using a tiny amount of Barge Cement on the threads of the focus ring and it works well. Be sure to be careful to not get any on the lens surface!

just cut it out. You can get a replacement lens for like 50 cents.

and bust out your brothers front tooth, and throw it outside. He deserves it for throwing a hissy fit

Yeah, the OP shouldn't have caved(even if this was a year ago, apparently). You never reward negative behavior. Doing so just tells the brat all he has to do is threaten to break something else to get what he wants.

The correct response would have been to beat the snot out of him for breaking your laser.. and STILL not let him play with the ps3. :D
