So here is my first 638nm build

The host is a Trustfire Tr-801 both heatsink & Host supplied by Moh quite a while back

The Mitsubishi 300mW diode Module, and X-Drive driver set at 850ma was supplied by DTR and opted for the 3 element glass lens. I did ask for the leads to be soldered to the diode and driver separately but he totally forgot :tsk: (just kidding :D)

So I de soldered the driver from the diode and attached the leads

The heatsink was a bit too small to have the driver attached to the diode

I threaded the wires through the pill and soldered on the driver

Fitting the driver in the pill was a tight squeeze but just managed it

I cut down the leads from the driver and attached them to the contact board

and then screwed it all together

And now for a couple of beamshots !!

Don't worry I've got french doors and the leftside was open so no risk of reflections :)

This is the smallest build I've done so far and I'm totaly pleased with the outcome
Hope you enjoyed reading

Thanks, a 445 was going to go in a couple of years ago but i fudged a couple of diodes and got a bit disheartened, but i've found another host for a 445 and decided to throw a 638 in instead :)

Indeed, good job on your 638nm, sounds like everything came along fairly smooth. +1 :D

Had a bit of a problem getting a ground, I had to put a bit of solder from the contact board to the pill and also to keep the board in place too :)

You didn't just leave the driver in there flopping around on the inside, did you? I know it's a very small and tight fit in there, but if it's not secured down, it could cause a short and kill something.

Otherwise, nice build! That's a good looking host for a red.
