I know this thread is a old but this is the first time I'm seeing it and i just wanted to say that this thing is Fu*king awesome. I also want to ask what size Li-Ion cell you using in it?

Those mini volt meters are great. They don't seem to have an issue with 1S. Anyone who uses unprotected Li-ions should have one of them.
Always hate that chinese insist upon sanding off chip numbers.

These are cell charge/balance meters, often used for LiPo packs - Digital Multi-cell Lithium Battery Voltage LED Display for R/C Models - Free Shipping - DealExtreme - 1S refers to one cell in series. they're not designed for lights, and no need to go via CPF. They're commonly used to make sure that LiPo cells are charged evenly for RC aircraft or cars. I have one myself, they're pretty useful but don't always work when the voltage is very low (mis-read the others when the first cell had died).

The chip on mine is sanded but it'll just be a generic Atmel anyway - a set of ADCs to read the voltages and output it to the light blocks.

Wow how did I miss this??

That's cool how you did the voltage read out at the back of the host...

Awesome!

Another "vintage" laser... the voltmeter is a brilliant idea :gj::topic:

Can you modify an existing flashlightstyle laser to take a charber jack and run off of that instead of batteries. Love the build!

This thing is super steampunk cool!

Sorry but it most definitely is NOT "super steampunk cool". The words steampunk and cool do not belong in the same sentence.

If steampunks could figure out a way to glue a bunch of useless cogs and gears on to a laser then they would be into it. Maybe a steam powered laser would appeal to the steampunk crowd.
1. Get laser
2. Get gears and cogs
3. glue the two together
4. ??????
5. PROFIT
