DIY Red Burning Lasers

Got a question for LPF. I have been looking around the forums for a diy red burning laser build, truth is that their are two or three of them. I am so confused about how to do it. All the different drivers and stuff :-/. Could someone help me out please i really want to make on soooo bad. I like the build were drlava made with the small leadlight, but I'm sure that would be to difficult for me, I have good soldering skills and steady hands, just want some advice on which is the best build for me. If someone could link me to a post or explain the parts needed i would greatly appreciate it.
