Which direction to put 660nm glass lens?

EDIT: Silly me. Both ends have the AR coating. I really doubt either way makes a difference.

I got one of these for $10 from Kendall for use with the LPC diode but I'm not sure which direction to put the lens in. One side has the blue AR coating. Seems to me I should be putting this end towards the diode?

the end that looks solid(i.e. no threaded part for holding the lens in) points out. it will have 2 grooves on either side for a spanner wrench.

edit: in the pic the end facing you will be the end that points outward.

Thanks for the info. I've always put the spanner end down which for uncoated lenses wouldn't matter I guess. I'll be putting the coated lenses I bought a few months ago to use shortly and will make sure to put them in correctly now.

Coated or uncoated does not make a difference.
If the lens is in backwards, it is in backwards.

To verify that, you mean by "points out" the direction toward the diode?

"points out" means "points out" otherwise it would "point in" towards the diode
