i like the meredith glass assemblies, they look and work well, tho as already noted
they are rather costly.

I love the fact that they are solid and don't wobble like the cheap AixiZ modules.

I know this is a relatively old topic, but I just need to know if you were wearing goggles in that video. We're all concentrated on the laser burning the tape of course, but a clear plastic cup? I couldn't imagine what a reflection of that laser into your eye would do :-/

Hehe, both me and my brother were wearing goggles ;)
When I do laser videos, I let my 14 year old brother hold the laser and do the burning.

I am moving out next month, though.

I've found a nice brass module with a glass lense, 36$ (can), shipped. If you want a pic, take a look at my latest topic in multimedia, used on my blu-ray laser. Oh, I thought about that, copper must oxydise...

Like aluminium, copper is always covered with a very thin oxide layer which (unlike iron rust) protects the underlying metal. Actually it's this oxide layer that causes the typical reddish "copper color". By cleaning the surface in the absence of oxygen e.g. with an ammonium hydroxide solution, you can bring out the real copper color, which is much lighter, a sort of silvery pink.

I don't know if you've already answered this, as I'm at work I can't spend much time reading the board.

How much was the total cost minus the Meredith lens?

Thanks :)

He said it cost him about $140 to make, and Meredith modules cost about $47 shipped to U.S.
