Yup that is correct.

The cycle is low because of the lack of heatsinking to about 30-45 seconds before it gets nice and warm, but not hot.

I just measured my dorcy with the similar setup no driver, just a cr123 right to the LCC diode and its producing 360mw of red through a aixiz glass lens, and 375mw through a high power made for BR lens. I had it running on a LOC the same way for about a year without any issues, with high usage, and with extended run times (4-5 min at a time).

If i may ask good sir, what LPM did you use ?

I can't under the math, usage time and Ma.

That thing should have died long ago, if not on its initial powering on lol. It must be pulling around 600mA to get that kind of power out of it. That's... insane :whistle:

We run these, in Kenom's little Teenie red build, with the same battery all the time. I have had one on my desk since Kenom first came up with the idea. IIRC I bought it so he could go out for his birthday. When the battery is freshly charged, it puts out >300mW.

It originally had a Stonetek red (120mW W/ LR45 batteries) in it, but that blew with the 10180 battery. It has had no problems since I switched it over to the LCC.

I don't think you saw what I was talking about, good sir. :p I'm talking about his LCC hooked up straight to a CR123 putting out 360mW! Since the efficiency goes way down at these powers, it's pulling some serious current to get THAT out of it.

Yep. You are correct. I missed the switch to the CR123 set-up.

I have an LCC running at 500mA and IgorT has one running at 510mA.

If this is actually pulling 600mA maybe we can actually push the LCC even higher :eg:

Hey Slipstream!

On that Dorcy run "straight off the battery" did you remove the Dorcy's stock driver from under the black plastic disc?

Are you using a primary or a rechargeable battery in the Dorcy?

IIRC the Dorcy has a tail clicky, right? If so you could remove the tail cap and measure the current draw by placing your DMM between the case and the rear of the battery

It would be nice to know what it is actually drawing with a fresh battery (primary and/or rechargeable).

Nicely done !

Can you link the cap you used as the switch?

Also, it might be a good idea to fit a flex driver in there perhaps. Might have to extend the aixiz module a little though.

I got a bad feeling about direct drive lol

The driver is still there but only as a means for the connection, all the resistors etc are non existent.

im using a rechargeable batt.

i will do the current draw measurement today in the morning in a bit.

edit: ok sorry to be a noob on the dmm.. to be more specific should i short the body to the batt or have it pass through the dmm by touching neg to the batt and positive to the body ?

Ok i must be doing something wrong .. im not getting any reading.
DMM set to mA and neg probe set to mA socket and tried common ground also. Neg to the back of the batt and positive poking inside the threads of the rear of the host.. and nada.

:thinking: Hmmmmm . . . . I just tested it out in case I made a mistake. It worked fine for me. Is the laser lighting up at all when you connect the DMM?:thinking:

no , no lasing. maybe its my meter?

its an old fluke 8025B.

it reads batteries just fine .. and the continuity function works.. checked the fuses and they are good.
