sorry about that

but why build it your self when u can get it cheap and modify it if more power is needed  
mine is doing 448 mw at the moment

How did you manage to align the lasers? I would guess that the module was held together with only glue. Laserman's build uses a kinematic mirror mount but keeping two beams together with only glue and your hands would be very hard.

Do you have a picture of the internal setup/quality?

Back on topic, : that is a very neat build laserman, what is your next move with it, XY scanner? Additional lenses to close focus for a labby burner?

but have to say that i like lasermans setup a lot more
since everything is fully adjustable

Yeah... I'd like to see the internals myself.... do you have any pics... :-?

The key was just to see how easy it was and how well it could be collimated at long distances (spot overlap). It was so easy to get spot overlap it was hard to see, so I put a front surface mirror at the end of my driveway (100ft) reflected spots back to where I was standing and overlapped them there.

I did it because it was fun, if I wanted to buy higher power laser i would have done that, but what fun is that? If I wanted to see higher power laser I would have just turned on my 50 Green KTP laser, and blown a hole in a razor blade, that was not the point.

no plans rog8811 (OBTW i am very impressed with your builds), i spent 30 years doing laser light shows, Im kind of done with that. I am just amazed with how much power these diodes put out. Back in the day to get 200mw of red you would have needed a Krypton Ion Laser running at 208 vac 3 phase 40 amps with 3 gallons of water. The biggest hene did about 100mw and it was frikken HUGE. To get 100 mw of violet you needed a very rare very expensive HeCd Laser, or a 12 KW krypton Ion laser. I have been working with lasers since 1975 so I'v seen alot of development.

Keep an eye on some developments I will have coming down the pike for the community.

Well, to give it some credit, at 633 that must have been a brighter than 400 mW of 660

Yes it was, not the point, but true. I was making the point about the power in vs. power out not the phototopic response of the human eyeball

OK so I'm curious how you powered each of the laser diodes. does each one have it's own driver? If so is groundign not an issue? I've got this one here:




Yet every time I throw 2 LOC diodes in there and power it up. POOF! 2 dead diodes. Now I am driving mine with just one driver and a resistor between the 2 diodes.

yep u need a driver that switches the  + side of the diode not the -

else your going to blowup your diodes in a dual setup since both diodes  have a comon ground or  -
most wel known drivers switch the diode on the nagative side not the positive.
there is also a other way to resolve this.
However this involves isolating the diodes electricly from eachother
