Default Super Ultra Mega Post of Optics Information :D

Well... let's kick this new place off with some info.
It's the same as in this post; http://www.laserpointerforums.com/fo...num=1196266417 (just stripped down only containing optics)

Perhaps everyone could post their own bits of info on optics, so we'll have a sort of forum optics Wiki for people to refer to (or those that are unable to operate a search button * )

And we'll begin:

CONVERGING LENSES:

Thicker in the center than on the edges; they cause parallel light rays emanating from an object to converge onto the same point.

Plano-Convex Lens:
Lens with one flat side and one convex side (bulging outward).

Positive Meniscus:
Lens where the concave side (curving inward) is less pronounced than the convex side (bulging outward).

Biconvex Lens:
Lens with both faces bulging outward.

Convex Lens:
Lens with one side bulging outward; the greater the bulge, the more the light rays converge

DIVERGING LENSES:

Thicker on the edges than in the center; they cause parallel light rays emanating from an object to diverge.

Plano-Concave Lens:
Lens with one flat side and one concave side (curving inward).

Concave Lens:
Lens with one side curving inward; the greater the curvature, the more the light rays diverge.

Biconcave Lens:
Lens with both sides curving inward.

Negative Meniscus:
Lens where the concave side (curving inward) is more pronounced than the convex side (bulging outward).

ADDITIVE COLOUR MIXING:

SUBTRACTIVE COLOUR MIXING:

Default Re: Super Ultra Mega Post of Optics Information :D

I also have some chapters I can scan in (for the Physics geeks ;D) from a book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Optics-Inter...224&sr=8-1

I borrowed it from my physics teacher for info combining beams (for the Hex project). It goes a bit above my head, but someone may find useful.

I'll upload it in the next week.
