so i ordered a 445nm module kit for aixiz and it came with 2 lenses. One appears to be plastic and short and the other is metal and about twice as long...my question is what is the difference (other than the obvious) of them?
:anyone:

One is acrylic (small black on). Other one is some sort of glass lens and will probably give you more output.

Is there a color or hue to the longer lens. Hopefully when you look at it at an angle it will have a slight yellowish hue. If its clear I would suggests ordering one one their 445 3 element lens. It's not the Cadillac, but will serve you well.

The smaller plastic one is most likely the standard AixiZ acrylic lens. Don't use that with your 445nm build! I smoked my first 445nm laser by using an AixiZ acrylic lens. The lens burned up from the high output and ruined my precious laser diode.

Did your len/s also come with a chrome part that has splines on the Outside dia? This is to help focus your lens at different distances. I hand-tightened mine so that it would rotate the lens in and out of the module, then made a larger focal ring adapter so I didn't burn my fingers. People here make them for sale so check the appopriate area for that. Also don't freak like I did if you have a large blue blob instead of a dot. I had screwed my lens all the way in. Needed to back it off a little thus focusing it. (Same thing as a magnifying glass).
