Deffinitley, you should see half the people on Youtube - They think a Spyder GX II is the most powerfull laser in the world..

Woot?
That is a huge load of bs....They're trying to get the unknowing ppl on their side....Any true laser enthusiast probably has a laser pointer that cand do that....Besides, who are they to draw the line between a REAL and an UNREAL laser.....?
And yes it definetly looks like they're making themselves the only laser company on the market, using the word REAL(spelled with bold, capitals and underlined) in the same image with their WL logo.....
The worst part is that they're succeeding.I have to admit that 2 months ago, when I first heard of high powered lasers(saw the kipkay video and then watched all the related videos, basicly made my first DIY burner before I found LPF) I thaught that WL was the only high powerd laser company too, and thaught that they're the best just as they advertised.Their site was the first I found because it's so thoroughly advertised on youtube(I guess dragonlasers are the second followed by nova and optotronics) and the way they advertised I had no doubt that it's the best choice.I think the only solution is that someone reverse advertised them....I don't really see how other companies could catch up to them without spewing sh!t loads of lies themselves.
LPF is doing a great job on that, it totaly opened my eyes....

Also, check out instructables.com. Just about every device that requires a laser, the person typing up the build references WL to purchase one of their overpriced products. Seriously, $100 for a 15mw laser? You've got to be kidding me. Especially when you can spend $20 on another site and get just about the same product.

I actually don't see banners at all. Firefox > all.

The LPF community should try to get the word out about other companies. If you make an instructable or post info on any laser projects on the web, posts references to places other than WL where you can purchase a laser. Not only will others get more traffic/profit, but less people will be turned away from the hobby by rediculous prices.

Im also a member at Laser Community and pretty much stay clear of their forums unless theres some idiot on there that needs a subliminal " DONT BUY FROM HERE) message. The sad part is that they advertise their site as "Laser community forums" as if it is THE (Pronounced theeeeee, not the) only place out there to buy a laser and their forum as the entire laser community. So anyone who goes there hears "BUY EVO BUY EXEC BUY PD....." and then they fall victim.

A new "contest" they hosted was an instructable contest. They are giving away an elite series laser to the winner of the instructable contest.

Its a very smart ploy-bribe people to basically provide "unbiased" (Its not actually WL doing it) advertising for their site. Anyone that looks up any kind of laser DIy or project immediately gets sent to LC where they get spoon fed the same BS about WL.

Of course. I bet you would've done the same thing if you were in WL's shoes ;) It's all smart marketing. I don't really mind WL, I've bought from them a couple of times without any problems at all, however; their form of conveying products can be annoying (due to the fact that there actually exist other great laser companies out there which deserves more attention).

Pandering to consumer ignorance is an extremely powerful strategy. Just look at Intel; they sell numbers, not actual performance. When a consumer hears about HYPER-THREADING EXTREME processors with a 3.065555554 GHz clock, they automatically think it's better than an AMD FX-55, since AMD doesn't advertise at all.

Now, this isn't really true of Intel these days, they actually make very good processors, the Core 2 Duos are some of if not the best available commercially. This, however, is not true of Wickedlasers.

I first learned about green laser pointers from a laserglow add in popular science. I was like "green lasers? Wtf! I must have one!"

I learned about Optotronics RPL lasers from a youtube video called laser compilation.
