Vote: Holiday beamshot competition

Thanks to everyone who voted for mine! That's my Lazerer Classic 150 defocused onto a 3/4 inch round mirror and reflecting up into the base of one of those fiber optic Christmas trees. The picture was taken with an exposure time of 1 second and a little bit of fog in the room.

Let me start with "Happy New Year" to everyone here.
Hope it is a year of happiness and prosperity for one and all.
(I'm rather bit overdue myself...)
I logged in at home last week (on a very limited system) and found that I couldn't see how to vote. The pages weren't loading properly and were taking way too long to load. I was prevented from voting for #8 due to the technical issues. While a little simplistic and small I thought it was a good balance of the requested theme and the beams. My second choice would have been #3 as there was only one beam and color used it didn't quite fill the requested criteria.
BUT thanks to those that managed to submit and to those that did vote. And thanks to you Swim' too for going through it all for us.
SO what are you thinking about for the next one ?

It says OR. Nowhere does it say you have to use both. :wave:

Of course it doesn't say you have to use anything specifically but the people who chose to do so garnered more weight in my opinion. Hence the edge out for my choice.

Perhaps in the new year I can pull something off as my cheap chinese projector is now unpacked and I will soon get to start hacking it ! (I still need to create and post an official review. I'm hoping to get the pictures this weekend after my son goes to bed.)

Might I suggest the the next competition incorporate some sort of arial display ? To sort of incorporate a fireworks inspired thought to the processes.(Celebratory for New Years, ya know.) It would take the competition to a new level (all puns intended) of complexity. Asking for the creators to SAFELY project a beam or beams upward outside in a display that others would see and enjoy. (You don't need to have anyone there to enjoy it, but it would be a possibility all the same.)
The complexity of delivering smoke or mist to the beams would be a challenge.
Whether having beams spread out or focus in to a single crossing spot, combinations thereof, or even "flying" a device to cause beamspread at height could be used.
Tape 5 dollar store cheapy reds to a helium balloon and launch it on 25 feet of string. If you use a mylar balloon you could aim a handheld at it and get the reflected beam in an outwardly spreading and resulting fading beam blending out into the night sky. (It could look awesome AND be safe at the same time.) If the balloon "broke free" you could enjoy the flood of UFO reports in the media afterwards too.


Just a suggestion though.
It's your contest. I'm happy with any/every thing.
