Eudaimonium, out of curiosity, do you know if using IMR lithium cells would raise the direct drive current by a significant amount?

IMR cells? Not sure what you're referring to, are those different brand cells or different chemistry?

Because if just different brand, ofcourse there'd be no change, they still retain all the nominal and maximum voltage characteristics of any 18650 cell (or which ever size you already have planned.

They're really high drain li-ion batteries. I wouldn't expect any better direct drive current, because the voltage that limits you here, and AW IMRs will be identical in that respect.

Also, the AK-007 is definitely not direct driving. It's boosting. Remember, the NJG-18 isn't meant for 3.7V in / 5+ V out either.

Also (again), I just sold my F23 build, with half the purchase price donated to LPF, for $72 with a 445 in it. Granted, it had an acrylic lens, and was only outputting 300mW if memory serves. But I guess my point is, sell away, but you probably can't expect this build to command the $300 wannaburn was selling it for anymore.

Not planning anything. Just remember reading about IMR cells on CPF. They are used when the current draw is too high for a normal Li-Ion. Probably wouldn't change current delivered though.

Edit: rhd beat me to it :p

I wasn't planning on asking anywhere $300. Probably ~$20 for a mostly preassembled kit with everything except a diode.

Sorry Qumefox - I didn't mean to sound like I was suggesting you would. Poor wording in my part.

Put together a 445 version in this host using the stock 3 mode boost led driver that comes in it yesterday. Don't have any 10440's to try it in but it puts out right at 60mW running off a AAA, which I don't think is too shabby.

I know these pictures aren't the greatest but it's hard for me to function one handed like i'm having to due to the burns on my right hand.
