A nice surprise today. A day early my 594nm showed up. Should be outputting between 2-4mw. Unfortunately I don't have a LPM that reads low enough to check. Anyway here is some photos.

Very nice color. I have a comparison with 612nm as well, but of course next to the more yellow spectrum it makes it appear more red, BUT here it is anyway.

Nice. I only have a low powered 593.5nm, so this is a good comparison to a 100mW 589 for me. Thanks

Very nice array of special/uncommon wavelengths!

Can easily see the differences--the 612nm and 594nm make the 589nm look very yellow by comparision

Thanks for sharing them.

yeah, I've always loved the VIS HeNe lines. nice collection! were you the one that bought DJ's weak 1.6mW orange? that's what it looks like. its probably just a mirror problem that made it so weak. it can probably be realigned relatively easily. I had to tweak mine and it does about 5mW ish now, though granted mine is essentially brand new, as it was never used and kept as a spare tube.

Would be nice to get it up to par again, but with a real lack of knowledge with HeNe lasers I won't be the one messing with it to say the least. Nice looking lasers you have there.

At this point, the only one I personally would trust to tweak a 612 is Sam. But I've seen him do some magic. :)

If you can meet up with him it might be worth the effort.

Yeah. It's not too hard as long as you know how, but it certainly has it's risks. He may come to selem this year but he's not sure yet.

I sent Sam a email to get a general pricing. So we will see. Would be nice if it is just mirror alignment instead of hours on the unit.

I could tell you pretty easily. It's very likely it's just mirror alignment. But he'd likely charge an arm and a leg to fix it. I actually just rebuilt mine into my old 161 cylinder. Works great! I'm in the process of currently restoring a stabilized laser head. It's almost finished. :)

He got back to me and seems very persistent on just leaving it alone. He said he could check the alignment out the front, but if the color seems ok to just leave well enough alone since the output isn't too far off from the minimum spec.

That's good sound advice. And in honesty if it's enough for you than it isn't worth fiddling with. Odds are if anything is off it's probably just minor. It may even just be slightly dirty. If I recall correctly years is like mine and does three different lines on & off.
