Yes 3D (!), at least a bit more 3D then the standard spiroporjector.
I build this two years ago in wood shop. It's the final LED version, but it's like a prototype for future the LASER version.
When will I build it? -don't know, hopefully soon (I don't have all the know-how yet or the money). I have figured out allot on how it works, even a way to put in a XY scanner in there as well. My solution is a bit unusual but it works in theory. Could this be a breakthrough?

That looks fantastic, man! What an awesome party light that would make. Let me know if you start sellin' 'em, or put together a kit, I'd love one of them. Great work!

Wow , that thing is amazing!! Is it just 2 motors to it or do you pulse the LEDs somehow?
I guess the laser version would make pretty awesome patterns across the room....You would probably get dizzy and puke if you were standing in a room with that thing and the lights off :D

Yes, two motors AND pulsed led's, of course the laser version will be a bit more precise so the pattens will be more stabil, I only use a pot to control the speed on this thing = bad.

So it pretty much makes random patterns :p 3 pots would be nice,one to control the pulse frequency.Did you make the circuit yourself?

Of course, that sounds a bit too much like a Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode... ;D

Good to see some real creative invention... I really wish I had the time to think of cool gadgets like that.

It is a modifyed bike light, not the 555 timer that I should use.

It's one of those things that would sell on thinkgeek.Actually is way better than most of the useless stuff they sell, especially if you made a more complex circiut and put in more leds, or maybe even mix leds with lasers :D

It's not a breakthrough , but its pretty shiny coloured lights!! :D :D Imagine the fun you would have staring at that when you were drunk or high, hours of entertainement ;D

Btw that movie Dream Catcher frickin sucked b*llz.I mean aliens with a vertical mouth that come out of the host's "backdoor" and are called "Ripleys" and the fact that it doesn't have anything to do with the dreamcatcher thingy made it one of THE(thee) worst movies I have ever had the displeasure to waste precious time on.Time that could've been used way better staring at FireMyLaser's pretty shiny thingy ;D

It is a bit more complex, I can turn off the led's so only one is on (any one) and there is a akryllic rod in each corner that light up in any colour with different effects with another IC.
BTW, I agree DreamCather is bad  ;D

I think it's pretty cool..imagine how big you could make the globe using lasers.. ;D I would love to see that. :D
