Dayum - those are nice! I like the second from the bottom the best- blu-ray and green looks so pretty in my opinion. :D

Lucky you who have fog, I've not had any fog near my house since April or something like that. :(

What were your neighbors thinking about all those laser beams? ::) ;D

Thanks guys!

Well, is was around 4 am, no neighbours to worry about. ;)

It rained the day before, so I guess that's was why I got the fog in the morning. It's quite amazing to have the dense fog and at the same time have a clear blue sky.

Igor, you know the glasses I have? I hate them! They reduce the beam visibility by halve. :( No wait... >

BTW LG, you needz an avatar pretty bad. ::) Get one!

Yea, I know, I know... I may have an idea about one, but I need a lil time (and a fog machine). I could just take one of my pics, but I want something a little more personal than that.

I can't say exactly what it will be, but it will include at least one laser beam. :)

Man, i know! I'm shortsighted too. I don't even see the beam with glasses. Of course, i also don't see it without glasses. ::)

But luckily, i wear contacts all the time. They are also supposed to have a UV filter, but if it's there, it's weak..

I've been showing my blu ray to a friend once, asking if he can see the beam. He could, but his brother couldn't.. I didn't understand it then. But later i realized he is wearing glasses.

I really feel bad for people who have to wear glasses. But blu rays are so pretty, that i think the best thing to do would be to go get contacts.. ;) Simply to see the beam. That's enough reason i think.. ;D

Umm... Soft contact lenses are dirt cheap.. A six pack is like 20-30 Euro.. Cheaper online.. And if you wear them all the time, a six pack lasts 3 months at least.. You also need all them fluids tho, but it's really not expensive.

The real problem is not the price, it's getting them in for the first time. And the second. And the third. And so on.... ;)

Otherwise, what else are you gonna do? Are you gonna buy an 8x writer drive, so you can push it to 300mW and see the beam as if it was 80mW?

Cos seriously, i think they block more than half. At least mine do. I don't see the beam AT ALL!

Maybe I should research a little bit more before opening my mouth. :-X

That's definitely worth looking into, I must say. You see, my glasses aren't even a year old yet and was pretty expensive, so I have to get over that. I just really hate them now, because blu-ray it's such an awesome colour and I can't enjoy the beam to the fullest. And at the same time my vision is just cr@p without them.

That depends on how much UV light that is present, the more the worse. :(

I highly recommend it. You may not even realize how awesome blu rays really are just yet.. You could get a pleasant surprise! ;)

It'll take a while to get used to contacts, but later it's easy.. You just have to overcome the aversion of sticking something into your eye.. ;D

Not with mine.. I can't see blu ray beams AT ALL with my glasses, even at night. :(

Sounds like you are both are deep in a dilemma. :( I'm happy I won't have to wear glasses, as blu-ray is definitley my favourite color as well.

I can't wait to get my blu-ray upgraded from 100 to 150mw by you , Igor! It will make the beam appear even brighter.

Yeah.. But i wouldn't want to push it to 150mW just yet.. Better to go to 130, and get 155 with the lens instead.

The reflections at high powers can be a killer, but with proper AR coatings, higher powers may become safe enough.

I'm still not done with all the high current tests tho. I rather wouldn't risk setting them to max just yet.
I'm running one constantly at 143mA (first higher setting), with the AR coated custom lens, and it's still ok. No degradation noticable yet.
I have not yet started the 160mA (second higher setting - max) long term test, because i'm low on diodes.. :(

But i am running my personal blu ray at the max default setting.. Let's see what happens.. ;)

Those are some nice pictures. I can kind of see the beam of my 33mW when it is dark.

I'll have to look at my 33mW 405 with my glasses on. This is the first I heard about them reducing the visibility. I have 20/20 in one eye and 20/WTF OMG in my other eye. I have a hard time seeing the biggest chartacter on the chart with my right eye so who knows what it is. I can barely read the 20/200 line with correction. Most of the time I just wear a contact in my right eye.

The turbine was going so fast, that one of the blades flew off, and CUT THROUGH the tower holding the rest up!!!

Nice beamshots!!

Haha, yeah, it happened in Denmark or something. There was a storm and it was so strong they had to turn off the turbines, but this one wouldn't stop, so it just kept accelerating until it well... disintegrated.

Ontopic: Awesome pictures. I don't get fog here often, but I'm getting a smoke machine soon, and a BR from Igor :).

I'll take some pictures then, hope my camera is adequate for laser beams though.

Blu-ray beam is a challenge to see, especially if the output power is low and the air is dry and dust free. At first my best was seeing a Grey looking beam from a 6 to 7 mW unit, I could clearly see the violet color with the Milos 26 mW units, but I wanted it brighter! When daguin came to my place to measure his lasers, (before he got a meter), I saw the beam of his 90 mW and was so hooked! I couldn't really afford a 90 mW, but IgorT made it all possible, he let me find and order parts for heat sinks and lens retainers. and I worked on other tool availability as well. I was rewarded so well for my work and parts buying and suppling! I can really see the violet beam of these lasers IgorT builds! His units are so small and well made, I think they are the best built of all! The beams are comparable to about the brightness of a 5 mW greenie. of course viewing angle and the stuff in the air are factors. Another thing. if you don't mind seeing a different color of beam, liquids are also a way to see the beam, it is usually blue in water, yellow or green shades in alcoholic drinks, and some ponds w/ algae, show red/ purple shades.

Shown below are 2 IgorT 110+ mW violet lasers and a CNI 5 mW greenie for beams visibility, a slight incense is burning.
