Playtime again this evening. Started off with a few fairly tame shots through my crystal.

Managed to split the beam and get a projector-esque pattern:

405 and 445 to a lesser extent turn green when passed through this crystal:

Figured it was time to get the CDs out and start makin' up some beams:

time to put some incense in there!

these came out far better on video (these are all short clips <1 minute):

but it gets REAL cool when I pointed the 445 at a CD - and what happened when it started to melt surprised me;

closer without the green

view from behind hitting the CD

the smoke is incense lol

overall this was a very fun evening!

Very great idea using the CD's!

I see you used a clothespin for the 405nm eBay pen :D Im forced to do the same for my 473nm haha.

Using CDs as a beamsplitter is the oldest trick in the book, but I had _NO_ idea it would do that way cool display as it melted. It reminded me of an animation of a pulsar or a star exploding or something.

And yeah I have done a variety of things to keep pointers switched on, hair clips work too. That 405nm is a trooper, no duty cycle.
