Flew on Canadian aircraft today

Bell 412? Nice choppers, bigger than they look in the movies! I've got a video of a 212 taking off at my old job, basically the same thing but with two blades instead of 4, they're cool to watch!

I tried to send links to the photo's to my wife, she said she couldn't see them without creating an imgbb account, sorry about that. Here's one using my photobucket account. I believe the aircraft is a 412, I used to fly in 212 versions in the Alaska oilfield. Canadian Army flew me in, they fly a lot lower to the ground than our guys do, a lot more turns and hard banking too.

Trees seem to be at a premium where you are now. Can't say that I've seen any except for the little bushes you showed on the base.

and a girl behind every tree.... not true, I've looked, they aren't there either. Not many trees, true, they grow crops though, I don't know why not.

Yikes. Are you sure you haven't been with men for too long? J/K. Is Papaver somniferum still the crop of choice there? It seemed to be for a very long time.

I did meet kind of cute guy today.... :p Just kidding, nope, there are women in the military here too, I can at least look at them anyway. I guess I live in a very limited blinders on reality, I haven't looked into what they are growing here, but I know they grow nut trees a lot here.

The crop I was referring to is the opium poppy. Used to be the cash crop for many, many years. The US actually had a policy at one time to try to eradicate it completely.

Probably not to the extent as it is in Afghanistan, but it is everywhere in south east Asia. Back during the Vietnam war, the draftees used to get it dirt cheap. Many became addicted to it, but were able to shake it off before coming back to the states. Anyway, you take care of you over there. I still want to meet you in person some day.

It left Alaska, must have come to you. My wife took a photo of this bike chained to a tree in a Walmart parking lot in Anchorage in Dec and now:

Same here, does that every year, always gives me false hope!

Getting colder again here. Below freezing the last few days. Had +8C(?) last week, down to a low of -19C next Monday according to the forecast, high -10C.

SOON! Been saying "soon" for months... :can:

What a cool pic:) Nothing has moved on that bike except the crank arm a tiny bit.
Wonder what the story of it is? Its not a top notch bicycle but still someone's property never the less? Maby its a clue to some unsolved crime?:shhh:
Which bring up a little of topic question that I think has been brought up before..How bad do cars rust out in Alaska?
Out here in MA they just deal with snow with huge amounts of salt and cars don't stand a chance. Even cars in say NY have rust issue's but no where as much rust, and I believe its because of better equipment and plowing rather than just throwing more salt.:undecided:
