I recently decided to purchase a DLSR (used to have one) and yesterday I got a Nikon D5200 based on research and some hearing very good things about the camera from Gismo. If you look at his photos, besides being beautiful photographs, the technical quality of them is first rate. So I got one.
My Canon SX40 (Pro Shot series) is/was a good camera and I have taken over 30K shots with it and am happy with the quality of them. After using the Nikon for a few hundred shots I can't believe how much superior the technical quality is compared to the Canon. So many nuances in capturing faint colors. And I really like using a real manual focus system that works well.

Some of the pics here were taken in my upstairs den to play around with the camera before I used it at night in my garage. I used both my projectors, and hand helds w/some gratings, and my glass sphere in some. Some of the shots here are kind of repeats from earlier photo shoots but I wanted to be able to compare new to old. I really am impressed am how much better the quality is. In the weeks and months ahead, I am looking forward to using the camera in all different situations and probably try to reshoot some of older ideas I did before I got the projectors. I also listed what I used on each photo. Enjoy.

This is it, Bruce! I'm glad I could be at least a bit of help while you were deciding to vote for Nikon D5200 in the end:beer:. R.I.P. your good old cam, it served your photographic intentions very well until the last day you've used it.

And the pictures?

P...h...e...n...o...m...e...n...a...l beam shots!

I very much like the centred circle patterns and particularly the glass sphere combos. Astonishing:bowdown:.

Keep 'em laser beam variations coming!

In the first few, is the Casa the star object or the center circle thing?

Amazing photos as always

Thanks to all.
Taking these pics with a new camera was kind of a learning experience? In the dark I knew the Canons controls by memory. Last night I found myself reaching for knobs and buttons that weren't there. I had a flashlight to help me cheat. But really it is the same as before as since I always shot using the manual mode with my Canon so I pretty much know the shutter speeds and f stops I use anyway.

Livinloud - the "star" is from the Casa

@Brucemir, thats what I was hoping you'd say. That star pattern looks killer! I love the look of it and it makes me even more excited to get my Casa!!!! I got the price down to $187 shipped DHL to the US so anyone interested head over to the Group Buy section and check it out (ends next week so hurry!)

Dont want to thread jack but for $187 shipped we can all have this great projector and inspire to get photos as good as Brucemir :D

EDIT: would love to see the PD2's tunnel effect alone. Kinda hard to make it out in the double image but these two look killer together!
