So sorry to hear that, it does indeed feel very bad when a laser dies, especially when you have got it recently. :( I dunno if there are any methods. If you are lucky, it is just something about the electronics inside the laser. But if it was the LD that died, I find it VERY wierd that the heatsink wasn't warm!

I know thats what I found wierd aswell it just suddenly popped when I connected the multi meter up to measure the current .

I know what happened, When I connected the Multimeter up the current drawn from my power supply shot right up and went into the LD :'(

I thought the resistors would have protected that from happening if it was just a quick spike :-/

Oh man, huge huge bummer.60 dollars + waiting and expecting it, and the the joy of turning it on, all fubar-ed in a split second. :( I can't imagine how you feel...So , so sorry.Maybe you can send it back though it was kinda your fault. But anyway, at least you still got a driverboard, a good heatsinked module with some crystals inside, all is not lost.

Man, you must be SO depressed by now. :( How could the current go right through resistors? :-? Was the current so overwhelming that it went right through them? I didn't know that could happen.

It cant, the more current you put in the higher the resistance goes !

I'm deffinitley sending this back, or asking for a replacement !

atleast I still have the Romisen though

When you tested the current going into the diode did you disconnect the diode from the driver for a short period of time? That is a HUGE mistake because the caps in the driver will build up a charge and when you reconnect the diode they discharge and instakill the diode.

No. I left it connected, I was testing how much the driver was drawing with the LD on it and running .

That sucks. Good lucking getting a replacement. My red 70mw module from dx died because the pot was defective and shorted when I adjusted it.

I just connected the two wires from the multimeter onto the two input wires on the board, that were connected to the power supply.

I think I may have burnt the crystals, it's giving me only IR when I look at it with the camera .

So basicly your ampmeter was in parallel to the LD? ::)

I don't think you fried the crystals with the diode, it's probably just the diode being a LED.
