Well, I finally got my time tunnel working (literally 24 hours before Halloween night!) properly and wow, what a success! The only bad thing is that (my worst fear was bumping the table the whole setup was on and having a mis-alignment) after about an hour or so, my blue module overheated .  Gee, something you pay $1K for SHOULD be continuous-duty - this is a Lasever module with TEC cooling and all + it was cold in the garage anyway, so I don't know why that happened, had to finish the night with just my red 660nm module.  Luckily it worked fine after I let the whole thing cool down.  I was afraid it had died or something....now that would be a very scary thing on Halloween night!  I had a gut feeling I should have used one of my argons, but because I had the whole thing on a small card table I was afraid the weight of the argon would have made it a bit wobbly, + the noise of the fan I'd have to try and drown out.  But I'll work on that for next year.

But other than that it was great!  Some people kept coming back to my house for a second look, and some kids freaked when I pulled out my 125mw CNI greenie!  The kids were of course thrilled, but even the adults were blown away.  I swear I must live in a very laser-ignorant area, or perhaps it's because I hang around here a lot I'm used to people who do understand lasers.  People were totally freaked by the time tunnel.  I could hear people out in the street saying things like "that's the house with the laser show!"  Some kid even dragged her mom up to my house to check out the show!  One teenage girl said "Wow - I want that in my bedroom!"  ;D And there was lots of "how did you do that!?!?" as well.

Now I've gotta think of something for next year to top this!

Here are some pics of my set-up (sadly I didn't take pics until after the blue overheated, but you still get the idea of it):

Nice! I gave a lasershow on the hills up near my house for halloween, I had a little crowd gathering on the street watching the graphics show :D

I was messing with my blu-ray and lighting up some glow in the dark stuff (including my mask) people were impressed. I also had my alpha 105 out for a bit but it took forever to warm up to operating temp :-/ about 5 minutes of run time before it got up to temp

At our Halloween events I lit the woodland in various colours and spiro patterns, that worked well but my best effect was that I put a GITD picture of "the Green man" up high on the building where the visitors were congregating.

Then from way out in the woods I targeted it with my 110ma blu ray to charge it up.....I was close enough to hear people questioning what it was and to hear the comments when I turned the laser off and left the picture glowing :) I will be repeating that next year...

Lasers are impressive to those of us who understand them, and much more so to people who are clueless! ;D
