My Argon Scanning (VIDEO)

I took apart my RGVP scanner last night too get at the micro step scanners. It was a pretty ghetto setup but it worked. The argon is <50mw @ 488nm.

I am looking for better *cheap* scanners if anyone has any

You can imbed it here by putting only the movie code (here Z24zToM9cs0) in between [.yt] and [/.yt] (without the periods)

That never works for me, I dont see anything when people embed a video.

It probably has something to do with your browser settings but I have never had the problem so I do not know what might cause it. Try going into Functions->Options->Applications and check about video streaming.

I'm using some cheap Micro-Step motor style scanners, Not actual scanners. These are found in most cheap Chinese ebay lasers. I took my RGVP scanner apart to use the steppers to see how it would look to see if I wanted to get real scanners and it looked great so I Just purchased real 12k scanners. :)

The cheapest way I have found to get these "scanners" would be to purchase a shnip red laser like this one and gut it. You would get a DMX board with programs, The steppers, and a red laser module to play with. Its only something like $65 wholesale.

Pretty sweet KGB, thanks for cheap scanner tip. $65 sounds pretty reasonable.

~~~$65 is wholesale, BUT I know that there are a few members here who make regular wholesale orders from shinp and I'm sure that you could jump in on that if you ever needed to. ;)
