so how about domesticated dogs... It's not like they do anything for the environment (in fact dogs are the most damaging non-agricultural animal to the environment), but people still love them as pets, the same goes for cats. And cats... I've heard some crazy stuff about areas and pest/rodent populations before cats were introduced. They literally saved the asses of quite a few starving people. But I don't suppose it would matter much nowadays if both went extinct.

how about humans while we are at it, the single most destructive force to nature.

Independence is what I respect most about cats.....

Cats and I don't connect very well. Theres a lack of communication between cats and I.

I appreciate dogs for the greeting you get when you come home, and the overall ability to express very recognizable emotions to us. A halfway smart dog will look you in the eye when you interact with it. When I talk to a cat, I feel like I'm not but an annoying 'object' that is in existence solely for it's own convenience.

But that's just my experience with cats so far. I DO respect them for their intelligence however. Very quick minded animals..

The first animal to truly break my heart was a cat I named Oscar.

I found him in my barn as a young kitten, he had to go to the vet before I could even consider keeping him, he had been abused and kicked in the face and was emaciated from not eating.

$400 in surgeries later I brought him home, He slept on the foot of my bed, greeted me when I got home from work, hell he even sat on the sink and watched me shave.

Some ass hole ran him over in front of my house and left him to die slow.

I never really connected with another cat the same way again.

I love cats... I'm not really sure what it is, but they always end up following me around and in general liking me a bunch :D I love dogs too, but they are a bit too big and loud for my taste. My cats usually just sleep a bunch.

That's terrrible! There are some sick fucks out there, people that would injure and abuse an innocent animal. And then the others who kill someone's pet like it's no big deal. If someone killed one of my pets, I don't even know what I'd do. Some b*tch who has no concept of pet control let one of her dogs wander in to our yard and kill all of our chickens. But I've never had to deal with one of my more "intelligent" pets being killed.

In some places its just the law. In holland you cannot stop for any animal crossing a street uneless it poses no danger to aft or oncoming traffic whatsoever. If you brake or swerve for a cat its your fault if you happen to damage anyone else in the process.

The rule of thumb is to run over anything smaller than half your tire diameter, and avoid things much larger.

And i agree with that rule - people do swerve to avoid hitting a duckling, resulting in a head on collision with several deaths or serious injuries all too often!

My friend's dad has some super old car from the 40s, and he told me about how he got pulled over for missing a back light, and that he "didn't have the heart" to tell the cop that they didn't make cars with two lights back then. :D

there was a car show in Watkins Glen that day, about 100 of those passed right out front.

My friend's dad got one at our local car action, a lot of rich collectors out here so you can find some really cool vintage cars, in perfect condition.

Watkins Glen is like the east coast hub for all things cars, the nascar track is right up the street from my house.

too bad about your cat

im more a cat person myself. dogs are playful but they cant express affection to the same extent.
my cat had been abandoned as a kitten till we took him in at 6weeks old. he's extremely affectionate and comfortable around us, seeing as he was so young when he first had human contact. always following me around, trying to nuzzle and stuff lol. Comes into my room every night and sleeps beside me. which is fine except its been raining recently :undecided:
