Here are some more appropriate pics taken a few weeks ago using magnetic hematite balls, strategically placed mirrors and various lasers to light everything up. I have been photographing these magnets with my glassware and lasers for over a month now and still many more ideas to set up and photograph in the next few weeks or as long as it takes until I move onto the next idea. Enjoy

These photos are even better than the others in pp, Bruce; reminds me of a pinball game, beautiful stuff; I can't even imagine the prep time for these shots, amazing!
Bruce, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, you've got a lot of balls!

Bruce, you said these are hematite, right? That is a mineral that has been magnetized and cut into a sphere. Or are these something different?

Hi Paul,
I purchased the balla as hematite. Very cheap actually from eBay. 26 balls for 10 dollars. I bought 2 units @. 52 pcs for my needs.

I do not know, but they are fun to play with and are very reflective. On many of my pics photographing these, I would shine a flashlight into the front of them for maybe a second of a 7 sec exposure and each ball would reflect that point of light creating more symmetrical patterns which then would be reflected by the mirrors. The ones I bought are considered "black". They also have rainbow ones in 3/4' and 1" sizes

Interesting. I have heard of small children swallowing these magnetic balls and once they enter the intestines, they will pull the intestines together causing them to no longer be patent. This has caused many children to have to endure emergency surgery to save their lives. Some have lost sections of intestines leaving some with ostomy bags.

I can certainly believe that. I know how powerful the magnetism is on these. Once I have grandchildren running around my house in the next few years, the whole house has to be made child proof. Right now it is just the wife , the dogs and me so all of my laser stuff is always set up and all of my cases are always open. That will also have to change.

Well, I hope you have plenty of grandkids to spoil, Bruce. BTW, loved the photos. Keep up the great work, buddy.
