DIY Flashlight Mod with Senkat Diode

It's nothing special other than the pictures are interesting and that this was amazingly easy..

Without the flash, the color saturation is extraordinary.

This flashlight mod uses the stock CR123 batteries (they are weak at the moment) Senkat LD in Aixiz module, and the 317 current regulator (@250mA) in a an Ebay flashlight purchased for ~$5.00

I expect that with fresh batteries, this will be even brighter.

Looks great! I'm sitting here hoping my Diode will be at home once I'm out of school. What is all of that testing equipment/monitors in the background? And it looks like the flashlight in the background is just another one.

It's not my first.. My first was circa 1988.. As an amateur experimenter, I built a HeNe from a kit, an IR diode laser, nitrogen laser, ruby laser, flashlamp pumped dye laser and a CO2 laser. Professionally, I was on the development team for several ion laser products.

Seeing how LD technology has advanced so much over the years and that it's very affordable, I thought I'd build a few to entertain my grandkids... (yeah, right)

The testing equipment is used in my day job. What you can see is a digital real-time oscilloscope and an arbitrary waveform generator.
