I'm now a proud owner of a BFG as the owner is now calling them  www.bfglasers.com  For those of you that have noticed they are on sale again and I had to show off the one I got and show beampics I've taken of it.  I live in montana so there are tons of wide open spaces for beamshots from distances and at night.  I tried to shoot some nice beamshots of this at night and up to this point am not really sure how they turned out.  We will see.  I plan on some video's in the near future so look for those.

Ok, I'm not a shutterbug.  I've now learned this.  Each and every shot I took of the beam didn't turn out.  I've no idea how to do this so I'm going to read the manual and post more pics when I've learned. Until then I do have two pictures I took that did turn out but they were shots of my hand with the beam on it at roughly 70 paces. roughly 40 yards. (fairly goodsized one's.)   I did a comparison shot to a DX50mw green laser and it's colimation and the BFG and it's colimation.  The BFG WAS TIGHER.

BFG in it's glory compared to a dx50mw and AAA for size comparison

the next best thing a mountain dew is good for besides drinking (flash used)

the next best thing a mountain dew is good for besides drinking (no flash used)

Beamshots side by side with dx50mw the dots to the lower right don't exist

Same without flash

Stay tuned I've got more goodies coming.  Any requests will be considered.

could a mod move this to media? I just realized that is probably the best place for this.

Great Pics Ken, I love the ones through the bottle. The Nemesis seems way brighter than the DX 50.

This guy is never going to get people to realize that his lasers are named BFG. We all keep using the wrong names and whatnot. I use the phraug in the title. SenKat uses the canadian fusion name. Tallaxo uses Nemesis. Timelord probably uses it too although I don't know if he does or doesn't so can't say for sure. LOL I think it's kind of funny that all the effort the guy goes through to find a name for his laser and it's not gonna stick. Goes to show that you pick a name at the beginning and stick with it.

I've been informed that my winning Phraug Nemesis laser has been shipped  Just a thought maybe Rick is revamping the website and giving the laser it's new title Nemesis ;)

The bfglasers_com website is moving to it's permanent hosting. So the site might be down for a day or so. You can still access the site here at the phraug address.

Ok I'm again heading out to try and get some good beamshots of this in action. I will again be using my dx50mw for comparison I wish I could find a nice straight road with a speed limit sign about 5 miles away so I can get a picture of that. Would freaking rock!

Will Post what I get when I get home.

Here they are!!!  Essentially all of the 50mw shots were entirely too dim to photograph so I only have like a few so I will try to distinguish between them. Essentially what happened as I'm learnign this photography thing is I'm supposed to leave the shutter open for a longer amount of time for the light to show. Well in order to do this you have to have your camera on a tripod. Well, I've got a tripod so I figured tonight I was going to get some good shots. Well, I pulled up on the camera to raise it up some and the whole camera and the mounting hardware broke and up went the camera straight into the air soaring about five feet above my head and crashed to the ground. There goes my tripod. Foobared beyond belief. So most of the pictures are taken while trying to hold it extremely still (thankfully the camera still works.)  Some are blurry.  You guys are gonna love these.

Shining down on a road marker sign about a half mile away!

The sign up close!

sitting on top of the car from 100 feet away

from the mile marker 11 down 1 MILE to a water sign

Again from on top of the car.

Shooting straight up into the sky.

again from up top the car.

Again to mile marker 11.

1 mile to the water sign.

1 mile to water sign

Water sign

The water sign itself.  off to the side you might see the other mile marker ok so it's not a full mile but very close.

water sign again

Water sign

mile marker 11 beside the road I was shooting the water sign from.

Just the bloom around a sign.  Love these flourecent signs.

Beam right on the sign.  Was SOOO BRIGHT the camera couldnt' get a good picture cause the windshield was light up so much.
This made the laser seem like it was 100x brighter than it was.  It's insane.  I can light up a room to walk in off a wall but these signs reflect so much light you could light up a stadium with it.  People driving by were giving me awed looks.

There's what I got this night....  Hopefully I can get some more good movies.  I do have a camera movie (from my digital camera) of the sign reflecting the beam.  Doesnt' do it justice.

I had a blast doing this and am really open to trying anything out to show you how marvelous this monster is. short of shoving it up some bodily orifice.
