Well, I built my first blu-ray 405nm laser :D, and it works very well... using ddls circuit at 32ma's, off 8aa nimh cells. Also, I should add that Ddl did the hard part by extracting these diodes, and soldering wires to them, then putting them in aixiz modules for me, I really appreciate that! :)

Oh man! it is very pretty! I love blue, its my favorite color, and most white stuff looks blue! :D in the vid, I had it aimed at some flourescent orange paper. I cant wait till these are available in a higher power diode! :D :D

Disma --

You rat !! How dare you post before we all get our diodes ;D ;D ;D

They are an interesting color and will focus to almost nuthin' for power !

Glad you got yours working. THat current should be pretty safe around 6 mW.

Congrats ---

lol I soooo want a blu-ray, just to worried i'll screw it up :-/ LOL Greg helped me wt my DIY red, he put the diode in a aixiz module, hooked it up to a driver, stuck some batteries in, and stuck it in a nice box. I did the rest, putting new batteries in and focusing it LOLOLOLOL ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well I'd hate to make another thread and call it "yet another blu-ray laser" so I am just going to jump aboard this one and see if maybe we can put some more of these daedal GB blu-ray experiments on this thread. I got off of work really late tonight so I didn't have to much time to assemble and photograph this one so I left out the scary looking circuitry and just took some gratuitas beam shots.

Yobresal, those are awesome shots!  :D Does the beam show up that good with long exposures? Also what current is your diode running at?
I figured Id play it safe seeing how many diodes have died.   :-X
Thanks everyone for the compliments. I still cant believe someone had one die from the static of changing the batterys!

The beam doesn't look super bright in person like it does in the camera but it does appear bright with a lot of smoke in the air. I didn't need to use long exposures because of the camera's natural ability to enhance the UV light. My multimeter is acting kind of schitzo but when it isn't jumping around  I am getting a reading of 28ma.
