50' balloon pop in 3 seconds

Just playing around with my Jayrob laser. Going out tomorrow night looking for 60'

Actually it only takes a little over 1 second, but I figured I would time from the moment the beam hits the balloon, rather than when I settle it on one point.

I was hoping to see a ballon 50' across pop when I tuned in, thats what the guide said anyway :cryyy: :crackup:

For that shot I turned up the driver to 1.8a and I'm using the Aixiz lens. Although it reduces your output by about 10-15% over the G-1 or G-2(probably with that lens I'm getting around 1.7W output and not 2W), it's actually better for anything over 10' away because it has a tighter "dot" at distance, and is noticably much better 40-50' away and greater. I don't know if that's because the Aixiz lens focuses it better or if it just clips the dot. I may try a few long distance shots with the G-1 tonight as well.

Thanks. So the Aixiz 405/445 does keep a smaller "dot" at distance. My 445, while being nowhere near 1.7W, cant pop past maybe 15ft. I thought you might be using something different. Amazing what raw power can do. I have an upcoming G-1 purchase and was hoping for another reason to justify the $58 cost. Excellent laser you have there!

Woohoo! Just marked off 100' and it popped! It took it about 15-20 seconds, but it did it!

Ps this was a test run in daylight because I could barely see it last night at 50'.

Pss. The dot was a slash about 4" long! If the divergence wasnt so bad this thing would be much more dangerpus

You must have a good knack for getting the focus just right...

And now you say you popped one at 100'?!

Thanks Jay! I will.shoot another vid tomorrow night, I was just too tired tonight after my bike ride.

A good way to keep focus is to mark your lenses. I put a small dot on my heatsink and another on my lens knob. When they are aligned, thats infinity focus(anything 20 or further is focused). I know from experience how much to take out for closer distances, ie. 5 feet I loosen almost 1/2 turn. 10 feet I only loosen about 1/4 turn. Once you have your infinity setting marked and use that for a baseline starting point, focusing on the fly is a breeze.

thats awesome, i might have a try at that later today. Of course i will start out conservative, maybe only 20'

EDIT: Sucess! i was able to pop 2 balloons at 50' with my labby. They each took about 5 secs each but it works

Ok as promised! 100' balloon pop shot this afternoon. I had to get my binoculars out just to sight it in.
YouTube - 2W laser pops balloon from 100' away!!

It took around 20 seconds to pop it, maybe if I get lucky I could get one in 15 seconds.

Jayrob sells the kits, easy to assemble. Look at his post above and follow the link to the "Jayrob maglite Monster" You will need to buy a diode, Aixiz housing, batteries, and if you don't have one, a charger capable of housing those large batteries. All in all around $300.00 should more than cover everything needed.
