that there isn´t a big visible difference between 445nm/473nm & for others who just want to look at nice pictures :D

308mW 650nm --- 50mW 473nm --- 200mW 532nm --- 1000mW 445nm

All ya need is a nice CNI 589nm or 593.5nm, & a 405nm & you'll have a nice rainbow. Nice PIX the way they are though !!!!

Yeah you´re right Rob! I wanna go for the CNI 30mW GLP-589nm in some months. The $600 are a way too much right now!
Thank you, I think it shows the colors in reality very well.

Nice beam shots even in daylight :)
Say what's that object your CD player is sitting on, it looks like a chest of drawers with two fire doors attached, dose it burn wood or coal to make the CD player work

Jeff, here in Austria we just call it "Kamin", I think you know it as "chimney".

I recall that Europe had a tradition of large massive radiant heat fireplaces which had a serpentine smoke-path, and a very tiny firebox.

The theory was that while it took forever to heat up, the big heavy mass stayed hot forever, and it only took small scraps and kindling to stay lit in the tiny firebox. This was because all the "free" firewood had long ago been consumed, and the remaining forest stands were all privately held by the wealthy nobility and the common people weren't allowed to cut firewood there.

Is it one of those?

(in contrast, American fireplaces in the colonial period were wide open, direct heat from the fire, because you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting some trees...)

And back OT, the 473 is a beautiful aqua shade. No mistaking it....

AJ-Dual, yes, I think it´s one of these. It is just there, because it was there up from beginning. I only used it once to burn old documents.

Wow, Phi. Real nice. I gotta do something like that soon :) I'm always worried about being quick on the duty cycles though:)

I was going to start my own thread on this, but to me there is a huge diff between 445 and 473! 445 to my eyes is way closer to purple.. Very nice pics tho.

^ it all depends on what you want. 473nm has way better beam characteristics(round
dot, low divergence) while 445nm offers much more power per dollar

The pictures are really meaningless though. That 445 is putting out 20 times more power in the same exposure. To get a comparable picture, you need to stop down 4f or more on your camera to get a comparable result - the 445 beam is saturating the camera and appears almost white.

I am sure the visible difference in color is there, but photos like these cannot capture it well... and even if they could, no monitor would be able render either color properly since they're out of sRGB gamut.

If you say the picture is exactly what it looks like to your eyes i won't doubt that statement, but only because i take your word for it ;)

The pics are for demonstration purposes. They show that there is a difference, a bit better than in reality. This thread should also motivate people also to look for 473nm lasers, and forget about the 445nm hype.
