I have to say that laser is a pretty good for only $120. That thing easily over powers much other pen sized lasers.

yeah once i took it apart and cleaned all the crap off of all the lenses it's a fantasic laser. it has the smallest beam I have EVER seen on a laser.

it also had the most scatter I had ever seen on a laser when i got it new, along with a fingerprint on one of the internal colliminating lenses.

If i put lithiums rather than NiMH batteries in it, it goes to ~180mw.

FWIW, it was pretty toasty to the touch by the end of the video. Not really hot but getting very warm. I'd not choose to run it much longer than a minute or so.

Yeah my X105 gets pretty toasty too after a minutes use. How small are you talking on the beam diameter? If it's that small I bet that thing is a beast when it comes to burning for a small pen sized unit like that. Hmm the DX200 may be a near future purchase for me, and I'm fine with taking it apart to clean the lens.

I had to use a microscope to clean this one. it was pretty bad.

as far as the beam, maybe less than 1/2 a mm. it's tiny, it looks like a green "hair" extending as far as you can see. I think my rpl has an awesome beam ~1mm, but it looks "thick" compared to the dx200. it's literally like a hair thin.

This is the best pic I can get to show the difference. Use my hand for reference to the size. the newwish is aperture cap is 12mm wide. the beam is TINY.

So the DX 200 is that bad then?
What kind of burning power does it have?
Compared to a X-105? What's the difference?

After he took it apart and cleaned it it nows does pretty good. His could probably easily outdo an X105 with that super thin beam.

The beams are comparable to my DIY red using a glass lens (bigger beam) vs a plastic lens. When using a plastic lens it is a much better burner. Any idea how much IR that DX is putting out?

I really appreciate you showing this. I have been drooling over a power meter for a while now and this really tells me that the LPM-1 is probably worth it. :D If only there was a way to convert the reading so it would work with any wavelength! :(

it works on multiple wavelengths!

there's a calibration mode for whatever you want, and it's pre calibrated for 473,532,630,660,808 with and without the nd8 filter.
