Does anyone know the name of this unit

Where can I buy such a thing, I have been told it came out of an old laser printer or bar-code scanner.

I looked into polygon scanners but they are usually one line scanners since each facet is at the same angle.

The one in the picture the angles have been adjusted to create multiple scan lines.

Try looking for the mirror in a bar code scanner, then. The ones in laser printers are usually made to just make a single line, and the diode is modulated to transfer the image data.

I'd imagine one of those table top barcode scanners would want laser lines in a variety of different places to make it easier to scan barcodes at any position/angle, so I bet that's where to get those. I doubt that the individual mirrors' angles are adjustable, though.

It is not easy finding such a thing.
Even if I do it is very likely to have only a few lines like in the picture below.

I am leaning towards making my own now, do you think flexible acrylic mirrors will work?

I could help if I knew what you wanted and where you are located..

I tried to make my own poly spinnning mirror but always got more the one line-gluing FS mirrors to a PC fan and getting them all the same if impossible. Fred at Surplushed.com sells several poly mirror assemblies , I have one of each and they make a perfect flat thin line and nice (static) Liquid Sky. Fred has his 20- 40 % off deal going once again-he has lots of big fans here at LPF.. if you order give credit to the forums. Hundreds of motors and thousands of lenses, mirros- over a hundred product catagories.

Are you wanting an effect sorta like A MIRROR BALL?
CAUSE HERE IN usa THEY SELL CHEAP ONES AT SPENCERS.
cap locked again!!

maybe you can find info by searching 'Laser tunnel effect' or liquid sky DIY

free fs mirrors if you know where to look-- PM
