So, ScanPro20 with 150mW green. That's exactly what I'm planning to do :)

What have you got with the ScanPro20? What DAC, and software making it work and stuff?

DAC == computer controlled and you can draw anything you want
DMX == limited to the pre-programed shapes and annimations.
DMX without DMX controller == limited to the demo and sound reactive beam show

DAC == The Way to go then!

Apparently a lot more expensive, but worth it I think.

How much would a DAC for a 40kpps system cost?

Thats true!, I have mine ordered mine, and someone is building it all up for me. $80 delivered. Not bad. plus it is supported by all the PRO software like LSP and Mamba Black etc. with re-coded easylase driver. I cant wait for mine to arrive!!!! i wish my new 100mw CNI Laser would arrive too. So a USB sound card goes in to the laser and you use some software with it to make things?

How exactly does that work? Do you need a DMX thingy to go with it as well? What kind of capabilities does it have?

Soundcard DAC's have the same capabilities as Top End DAC's. You dont need DMX. They output to standard ILDA.

A DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) simply takes the Data from the computer and changes it into analogue wave forms. A soundcard has to do that to take digital audio into Sound (Analogue Waves). Soundcards are already a DAC so they are easy to work with after a few changes. You have to connect it to op-amp's to make the signal balanced, but then it all works in the same matter as any other Laser DAC and work with any ILDA Scanner. They also use a re-coded easylase driver that lets your use it with most of the professinal software such as Mamba Black & LaserShow Designer.

DMX is just a simple 0 to 255 controller. ALmost like a TTL signal!

A DAC converts the digital signals outputted by your computer, into analog signals ( Like how you can get analog lasers) Which is just a signal with a varying voltage. DAC's are made for lasers mainly, but DMX was intended for lighting only. Murudai, Do you have any vids of the scanner with the 150mw green? I want to get a rough comparison ;D

I am having probs finding a USB sound card here, so I may buy one of drlava too. I have $150AU laying here, but thats for my laser once it arrives :D Which should be before next weekend!

On the other hand, bridge from laser-wave recently PM'ed me and asked if I would like to be a Aussie distributer of thier products!! I am trying to find out what i'd be required to fill out to do it ATM.
