so i am fixing a laser from a club, all the lasers inside are dim (due to its age) but it has nice 30k galvos, so im replacing all the colors (and upgrading it)
and now looking to find what it would cost to replace all 3 lasers(so that i can get the cost approved) to upgrade them to a total of 2W
im probably going to go with theese lasers:
Red: 650nm ≥ 800mW -analog
Green: 532nm ≥ 200mW -analog
Blue: 450nm ≥ 1000mW -analog

for the red i would go for this
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/110886749495...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649#ht_1367wt_1037

the green:
200mw 532nm green laser module with TTL analog modulation | eBay

and the blue
Lab-use 1000mW 1W 445nm 450nm Blue Blu Ray Diode Laser DPSS Module TTL or Analog | eBay

all this on a 30k galvo set, what do you think?

if you got links to better lasers (for same price or even cheaper, link them !)

First, I would be concerned that ANYTHING coming from China may not be as powerful as reported in the eBay ad, website, or whatever. With that said, there are some china sellers that are doing pretty well, on the integrity side of things. They can be found in the Companies forum.

Being a Chijector owner, I welcome seeing a couple of pictures of your projector, just for the my own sake and learning.

Your color ratios look pretty good, to me, too. It may be argued if the rest of the PJ is as nice as the 30k galvos, you may want to put quality lasers into it. If you want to get it off the ground, keep your repairs as small as possible, until you can afford the lasers you want.

well its a custom built laser in the first place, its easy to work with (i find) im looking to replace the lasers more than replacing the whole unit
if you have link to better lasers for equal/slightly more price, please post!
i will try to get pics of the projector tomorow

My vote is 200mW. I think it's already on the strong side in that mix. Do you know if your drivers have a "pot" to tweak and dial back the individual output power if it's too strong?

ouch. >$200CAD. Laserlands looks familiar. you pick that name up in the companies forum?

Since they're all partying over there, you have a little to,e to shop around. I'm not saying that's too high, just that I thought green is the cheapest of the three. Is that right?

yeah the green is the cheapest, i just bought a 800mW 650nm for 399, ill be swapping the colors one by one, so i ordered the red to start

1 possible problem would be I bet you loose 30%-40% of your red off your scanner mirrors....

Im betting the beam is 5x6mm and your scanners can only handle a 3mm beam...

Just a heads up..... you either need 637 red with small mirrors or 650 red with big mirrors, but 650 red with small mirrors is less than ideal.

they are medium oval shaped mirors i believe,
and the red only bounces on 1 dicroic before it gets to the scanners

they are either regular 3mm beam or large 5mm beam... normally you have to specify if you want larger mirrors....and then the larger mirrors only come on dt's(unless you go $$$)

i wasnt talking about losses from inefficient optics but more that 40% of your beam wont make it out the front of the laser cause it completely missis the scanner mirrors.... but thats the problem with all 650 reds... not just the one you listed.

is there a way to focus the beam smaller?

Yeah but its not worth it.... To make the beam half the size you would also double your divergence... :( turn your laser beam into a flashlight

But its not all bad news.. im sure it will still look great :) In one of my lasers i use 635 red.. the beam size is same as yours but the divergence on my 635 is way worse than your 650 and it still looks good even though its scanning on 3mm mirrors...

As far as chinese laser supplys go I've had great service from mierlight and from all accounts dhom and cni are decent lasers but I have to agree with KGB I just bought a 1.3w cni 650 and now I have an expensive paperweight. I built a 1w 638 and I'm much happier with that, it cost about $350 to build
For the 445 I used a m140, cheap and bright
Got both from Dtr
Then a 500mw dhom 532
I'm pretty happy with the results
I'm going to upgrade to a 1w green tho
And I'm very new to all this I actually found the process easy and enjoyable
There's lots of people on here and pl willing to help

Are you sure you want TTL modulation, I'm under the impression that analog is much better for projectors

And it says the duty cycle for the red laser is only 40 seconds on and 15 seconds off, if your making a projector you will
want a laser with continuous duty !
