Hi everyone,

I recently started gaining my interest in being able to create a simple laser show that would be able to generate simple shapes and patterns and beam shows. i realized that this is the best route to take my hobby without breaking the bank on a ILDA laser show system. this would just be something used for parties and small events.

In this build i would use some stepper motors that i have laying around. i thought that those might be something that could possibly work? Im not talking about a spirograph or anything like that just something a step up from that if even possible..

If anyone has any cheap solutions or tutorials that are out there that would be very appreciated!

(sorry if this may be something that has already been posted but upon my research i have not found anything that has fit my interest)

Thanks in advance!

If you're planning on using stepper motors, don't expect much more than a bunch of squiggly lines. They're not designed for scanning duty at all.

You can pick up a set of galvo scanners very cheaply nowadays.

Check out the REKE-500 it's not to much at all for a full ILDA system.

If not, you can get a set of PT-20k's with a circuit board attached that I believe has pre-programmed beams/animation patterns on it. (So no DAC needed)

Can i hook up a mic or aux so it could play with music?

Dont think those scanners have pre-programmed patterns, it looks like just scanner amps. In this case you need something like this.

I have seen cheaper scanners that come with a dmx board already and not much more expensive. There was a group buy for 15k scanner that came with a RGB dmx board for 80 bucks a while back, some who participated like myself are selling those scanners or sold them to upgrade.

This was the old group buy thread. http://laserpointerforums.com/f55/g...o-set-dmx-ilda-complete-75-arrived-63786.html
Might want to resurrect that thread and ask anyone if they want to sell their scanners.
