Recently i was wondering if i could turn my RGY into a labby, but still have it so i could have a RGY laser show, well i found a way, but requires a few minor modifications. Basically all you have to do, is unplug the power from the scanner controller board, and the green laser should stay on, and the scanners don't move. So basically what i did was put a switch inline with the controller boards power cord, and mounted the switch underneath the scanner. One thing i did notice while i had the lid open, is that there is a small heatsink on the laser driver board, and it gets hot fairly fast, so i extended its wires and mounted it to the case. NOTE: When you turn off the scanner board, THE FAN GOES OFF TOO! Not a big problem, since there is a ton of metal in there, but i don't recommend leaving it on for large amounts of time. Now i have a 40mw green labby, with somewhat bad divergence, and a RGY scanner all in the same package, and you can chose between the 2 with the switch. I just hot glue my switch underneat, since i didn't want to drill any holes, but you can do that if you want it permanent. So there you go Mike, found a solution!
