Ok i'm starting to think to build a scanner and i need some hints :)
I'm planning to start with a green laser scanner, then will add a red module and finally (when i'll have money) a blue module.
I think i will get the green module e the galvos (20kpps) from lasershowpart: it seems a good seller from what i read on this forum.
Or maybe if you have some other vendor to suggest me it would be very nice.
The green module will be 150mW and the red 300mW, both with analog blanking.

I really need some suggestion about where to get a (not so expensive) DAC and Software.
The software possibly for MAC, although for windows platform is not really a problem.

I have no more questions (for now) :D

Welcome welcome! to this crazy land we call home :p

Lasershowparts is the place to get what you need, great stuff and service!

DAC.... always the difficult one... FB3 from pangolin is the best for the price, great company and awesome software.

Soundcard DAC is also good and CHEAP! check photonlexicon.com/forums for all your scanner needs

Andys site is also great laserman.co.uk

Good luck!

My... god... I'm just looking at the pangolin site and it is AWESOME

I mean, check this out! http://www.pangolin.com/LD2000/lc-flash_overview.htm I'm a professional Flash developer, it's my job! And you can ACTUALLY convert Flash in to laser shows! That's mega awesome ;D I want... I want...

And the LD2000 software... totally awesome... They even made a GAME using a scanner as the screen... oh man...

Pangolin is just in a whole new league compared to the scanner stuff we talk about here...

Based on what I'm seeing... totally worth it.

If you have the money of course ;)

Ok pangolin seems the high end software in laser shows, but i think is "a little" over my current possibilities for now.
Maybe in the future when i decide to take this at an higher step :)
Is there nothing cheaper to start?

I need something to do beam shows (im not interested in animations for now), considering i will get 20kpps galvos.

Ok i think the FB3 Lafreak is a good deal, but i see in the other thread Andy mentioned the moncha dac.
What do you think is the best item?
I will spend around the same amount, calculating the Import taxes from US on the pangolin dac.
If someone can explain me what are the advantages and disadvantages of these two DACs :)

And what about 20k galvos, are enough for doing smooth and complex beam shows? (as i said im not interested in graphics atm)

20 should be fine for starting out.

and really moncha and pangolin fb3 are quite different its hard to just say whats the best for someone without using both for a long time and seeing which one you personally enjoy

its a matter of personal preference. moncha 2.0 is supposed to be coming soon and that is supposed to be great. i say check out photonlexicon and read more about the 2.

figure out whats best for you.

as above fb3 and moncha are very difference.

if you put the top package against moncha it will blow it away. livepro is something else.

but if you dont go for the top package then consider moncha as well.

i have both and both are very good, i cant fault either

Ok other couple of questions: anyone knows the prerequisites to run the software that come with FB3 DAC?
I will think in future to couple with a Netbook like the EEEPC or MSI Wind and dunno if it really can run smoothly.
