I am going to make a simple spyrograph soon and am looking for some mirrors to use, that is a lot easier said than done. I found that those little inspection mirrors can even reflect the actual beam but they seam hard to get now and it seams a little pointless to spend £2 online only to have to spend £5 postage.

Where can I get some round mirrors I can use? I am also looking for some kind of mirror I can use when I get around to making the x/y scanner.

I just found this guide on making your own fs mirror.

Try poundland and chemists an buy little makeup case things, they usualy have round mirrors in them.

Think I will pass on making my own, and I think the mirrors in poundland are just way too large

I used plastic mirror for mine, I think it was around £2 to £3 for an 8" square, you can cut it with a craft knife, nib the corners off to get near to round and then I stuck it to a mandrel with double sided tape and finished off carefully with a file.
It has a peel off cover film you can take off when everything is done. also you can drill it from the back to mount on the motor shaft.

You will end up with loads of mirror tile left over for other projects:)

I tore apart an old all in one printer and found some nice big first surface mirrors; they are like giant strips, and they can be cut down into small squares.

I bought a little bag of 10mm circular mirrors from my local craft shop (HobbyCraft - UK) for £0.99 and some of those sticky foam pads to stick to the fan motor. Also you can alter the angle by using 2 pads on one side, and 1 pad on the other.

i set up 2 mirrors on either side of the street; went like 200 yard away; shined the laser at the mirror so they would reflect and make a green line across the road and some cars wouldnt drive through it hahah i thought it was hysterical

That was pretty damned dangerous to do - WHY would you do that near moving cars and people ? You DO realize that any stray reflection could have possibly caused a crash, or blinded someone ? Good God, man - that has got to be by FAR the worst idea on record of something to do ! Please go back and read the ENTIRE safety section - people like you are the ones that "they" {The government} are worried about, and the reason there are laws against lasers now.

Thanks for telling him that --- I would have used more insulting words.
