Ive been considering to get some serious software and DAC, Quickshow came to mind as so far I heard it is one of the best you can use.

Pangolin QuickShow 2.0 FB3 Laser Show Designer Software on eBay.ca (item 110634673315 end time 10-May-11 15:04:51 EDT)

My question is, is it as simple as it sounds? all it requires it so instal the software on a computer, and run a USD to the DAC (which goes to an ILDA standard projector connection)?

Also, if someone here actually owns this software, could they give thier feedback on it or if they recommend something else other the quickshow?

This is quite pricy, so I do want to make sure I am getting what im paying for.

Thank you.

I know I tend to say this a lot, but photonlexicon has a ton of information about quickshow and FB3. In addition, the CEO of pangolin frequents that forum.
Any questions regarding FB3 and quickshow may be better answered over there.

Yall will LOVE IT!!!! Its the only DAC I own and I upgraded it with livepro.....Great bundle :)

I actually have it built into this laser along with a USB to 802.11 for wired/wireless ILDA over intranet streaming...

^If you want to talk to Bill Benner PL is not the place to go. He's said numerous times that anyone wanting to discuss Pangolin products should contact him directly via email (can be found on the Pangolin website) or post at the Pangolin forum at Pangolin Forum - Powered by vBulletin

Anyhoo, since this venue is perfectly fine for discussing such things I will also recommend Quickshow. I just ordered my 3rd FB3, and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Simply an awesome interface, and the cost is quite reasonable considering what you get. Also, at this time Quickshow is Pangolin's newest system so you reap the benefits of their very latest code. IMO it is to be highly recommended.

Perhaps it might be more logical to wait until Beyond is released before buying an FB3. Anyone have any thoughts regarding this?

Well guys, I think I will go with it and get quickshow, from more searching and the inputs of this thread, I think it will serve me well, and then some for all my needs.

Looks like you get what you payed for, as I am under the impression this is one powerfull combination of hardware and software.

probably next month or so Ill buy it. (still need to get around to fully assembling my projector)

Thanks for all your help.

Done a while ago mate :)

Didn't arive yet more then likly due to the postal strike going on where I live, but when it does, at least I can have some solid software and a great DAC to go with it.

Ill definatly post the laser show when I finish building :)

Great!
Oh right that posting of a laser show: There's a pangolin showportal, perhaps or perhaps not you've heard of it?
If you feel like it, you can upload your show there for other Quickshow users or download shows off course.

Even though you can draw things more efficient when drawing them with the laser preview on *(for best looking laser projection you deform things a bit so they scan better with fewer points *sharper turns for instance*)

But yeah draw yourself some graphics so that when your build is done you can fire up some of your own stuff right away.
I actually made complete graphic shows without a projector :)
it's a very good training *as you have to predict without being able to see an actuall projection*

Sorry for asking thing all of a sudden though but is KGB_Productions saying he is controlling to FB3 over wifi?
I hope not since Controlling laser projectors over wifi should only be used as a safety backup.
but isn't safe as once you have noise on the wifi connection (since fb3 has no internal memory)
it might be a bit risky.
Or once you lose connection, you lose controll over the laser :)
but if it's over lan then it's ok

I run the laser exclusively over intranet (not internet). Mostly wired, but have the ability to do wireless and do it every now and again. I use a hardwired e-stop from the laser @ front and back of house mixers (always)...which is where I stand while controlling the laser.

The main reason for using the setup I have is that I don't need a DB25 cable to run from the laser to the back of the room....I can use a cheap and easy to make cat 5 internet cable.

I have never had a accidental exposure or loss of control of laser. The worst thing to deal with is lost packets, which just result in the laser blinking off for 1/100th of a sec.
