Laser Spirograph Motors

So I made a laser spirograph with 3 computer fans and mirrors attached, and it works pretty well. But I was poking around, and found the highest number of motors in a spirograph seems to be 4. Would it be possible (though very hard to line up) something more like 6, and would the pattern be more unique then 4? Or does it just kinda max out at a certain number?

Oh and relatedly (it's a word now) what is the advantage of being able to reverse the direction of the motor? If it's worth it I might get a regular motor to add in the mix. Thanks!

It maxes out, I have run up to 4 myself but even 3 is too much IMHO 2 seems to be realy good
Yes put in a switch to flip the polarity and reverse the moter and you get all different patterns
