not even bill could make livepro do more than one DMX task at once when I asked him at SELEM... and it only supports TTL (0 or 512) on DMX... nor can livepro do more than 32 DMX channels

so ya, QS2 is starting to surpass livepro in certain things...

and yes I own livepro and have done "proper" paid shows with it

additionally livepro is at the end of its development cycle... short of whatever is replacing it in "beyond" livepro is probably not getting any new features

so your buying a dac based on its dmx capabilities? buy a dmx controller...

i dont care about dmx features as i dont use em.

QS doesnt has the ability to add effects and colour cycles to cues like livepro does. this is what makes livepro so special.

beyond is something completely different and were talking QS here.

well your going to be impressed with QS2 and the zones... the demo bill did with it @ SELEM really blew me away

i have qs and am not impressed lol

You should contact Bill to see if you can try the QS2 beta.. I don't think it's available for download from their site.

I must be honest here, I only have personal experience with the latset Beta versions.. I had been hearing such good things about QS2 that I skipped right over whatever the latest release version is. There might not be that much of a difference between the two for all I know, but based on how people have been talking about the current QS release vs. the QS2 beta I'd say some improvements have been made.

im not that bothered to be honest livepro does everything i ever needed and more.

in my eyes QS would need to go a long way to be better than livepro and as far as im aware QS doesnt have half the feature livepro does. dmx features arent important

you have QS1... QS2 is a completely different animal, trust me when you use it your going to be impressed... it does multiple zones, it does color cycles, it does regular analog control of DMX (via a seperate interface, not sure if the QM2000 version will support the QM2000 DMX interface)... it has a really intuitive easy to use DMX sequencer, board emulator, beam sequencer... plus you can make images/text etc on the fly while your other effects are still running in the background... the list goes on... trust me QS2 is really powerful...

livepro advertises its ability to do DMX, when I am doing a show why do I want to have a separate computer/controller for my beam tables which are controlled by DMX?? now I have to worry about syncing up different devices? pain...

livepro is very powerful, dont get me wrong, I do not regret paying for it, and would do it again, but unless your doing really serious shows (and are ONLY doing laser projectors) livepro has some serious limitations... and then QS2 is going to provide it some serious competition if you need to get by those or not...

also QS2 is going to have a timeline, with unlimited tracks... not even a QM2000 pro system can do that (32 tracks max - which when you are adding DMX tracks to the timeline in showtime can get really full really quick)

^^^ hear what your saying and indeed ive not seen/used qs2.

the current version of qs i have does not even have zones and this is why you cannot use the current version for shows. i have a zone set for text, a zone for animations, a zone for beams and then my main beam show zone.

dmx feature are nothing to me, i have not use for them

but i look forward to using qs2

Wow. I never thought I would ever see a Pango vs Pango thread. The Kool-Aid runs plentiful these days. :)

Laptop--->FB3--->25pin BREAKOUT BOARD--->Gavlvos & lasers. I assumed that it would just connect but I'm new and it actually needs a breakout board to connect to everything.-jimmy

Yeah, I didn't see that coming either. I have the breakout board on order and hopefully it'll be here soon.

The problem of the day though is that 8-32 tap I have stuck in my baseplate :(
I'm about convinced to trade in the tapping of the baseplate plan for just putting bolts through with nuts on the back and 1 inch standoffs holding the baseplate up.
