cool......how how far does your actuator arm move when its powered up??
mine is moving like a mm. but im using a homemade shit amp

Try using a signal generator and output a sine wave at about 40Hz and then crank up the volume from the amp until the arm starts to move. That way you won't blow the thing right up with your super duper amp 9000 :)

The subwoofer amp I used has an integral bandpass filter so it won't play anything over about 150Hz... but it doesn't matter because imho the coolest effects are on the low frequencies...

Another idea would be to 'cut' the audio signal with a 40/50Hz sine wave, so you never get a static beam.

If you don't care about static beams, then it's not necessary.

does your music come through another speaker aswell or just through the HDD. so do computer speakers have an amp?
