Okay, so i know 5mw green can be seen fairly easily at night, and my 250mw green can be seen in a brightly lit room, but how about blue?

How visible would 1w of blue be? Like a 250mw green at night? Blue lasers of that power will definitely only cost roughly $50 in a few months, if current trends continue.
Also, how visible is 1w of red?

If you take 532 green as a point to comare against, 660 nm red will be about 1/10th the brightness at equal power, 635 nm will be about 1/3rd.

Bluray (405) is hardly visible at all - it might makes things fluoresce, but besides that it is about 1/100th or so the brightness of an equally powerful green under normal conditions. This is a point of concern, a blurau beam that appears to be rather dim can pack a serious punch in terms of eye hazard.

When it comes to true blue, 471 dpss or 445 nm diodes, the apparent brightness is somewhere between an equally powered green and red laser. Such lasers might not be as blindingly bright as a 532 nm is, but they sure appear bright regardless.

It all depends on circumstances though - asking how bright a laser is, is like asking how heavy a car is... easy to lift with a jack, impossible to budge without ;)

Someone posted that their 445nm was very close in visibility to their 150mW green. I believe it was less than 1W of 445nm.

445 should be fairly bright, i suppose the apparant brightness is comparable to that of 635 nm, but with that stunning color it might draw a lot more attention ;)

My 445nm blue pointer easily competes with my 150mw green laser at night....

You can still tell that the green is a bit brighter, but the blue beam is very visible..... Very close to my green....

But in a lit room, the green stands out a lot more. But that is to be expected....

I also have a 200mW red, and the 445nm blue is waaaaay more visible than the red.... the red does not even compare at all.

Also my blue, isn't even being pushed hard... I have it at 400mA, which according to the stats, should be putting out around 300-350mW....
I am assuming that having it at 700mW+ would be a lot brighter....

Take a look at these beam shot that I took.....
No smoke, no fog.... crystal clear night sky....

This is almost exactly what it looks like with your eyes....

I tried to get a picture with my red in there too... but the red beam wouldn't even show up on my camera unless I used a really long exposure time...

Again that is 150mw green and should be around 300mW blue
