Hey,

I thought these were an interesting find:
LITEON 635nm Laser Diode Lot 6pcs NEW! LTLD-505T-0020 | eBay

Does anyone have any sense as to what they're power might be? I only became aware of LiteOn in the context of optical drives (and just burners from my memory) - so I thought these might be something special. Any thoughts?

* I post this with one request - since I'm legitimately contemplating this purchase, if we decide that these are something special, please don't scoop them up out from under me ;) Of course, this is just a request, nobody is bound to follow it

I can't find much on google. A search for "liteon laser diode" brings up some results with 505T in it. They are listed as 5mW 650nm. Another search for "liteon ldlt505t" brings up more results showing 5mW 650nm. Personally, I wouldn't spend the $45 for them.

I sent him a question - asking how he knew they were 635 (since the box didn't say 635)

Hopefully he gets back to me.

I bet they are regular reds. Thats what most liteon diodes are and as far as I know liteon is a HP feature so there are only a few drive models available. I used to work for HP and thats what I was told at the time.

In the event that they are high power 635nm diodes and you are willing to sell even just one im officially dibsing one! After building my 40mW sanyo im addicted

The seller isn't replying to my inquiries - so I'm going to pass - unless I hear back from him/her.

There are other modeles of this diode out there with other end designators, 505T-0020 & 505T-0010
I would take a stab in the dark and say that would indacate a 20mW and a 10mW models but that dosn't mean they are 635nm

Peace All...

My research showed that these were 650nm...judging by the end designators.

I would pass on them if I were you....I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure that's what I found on them. If I get the link again i'll post it.

Edit: This is the link that I found that seems to match it....perhaps not, but I think so....

If the seller would just reply - it would all be clear :)

Maybe the seller only knew that they were red diodes and got that '635nm' from a wavelenght chart. I would be suspecious tho about the sellers' lack of response to your question.
