I ran across this again this afternoon. I worked on this, back in the day, when I was still trying to figure out which end of the soldering iron got hot. I assembled it with ghetto, trash pieces, but it worked
In any event, I figure somebody wants/needs red light for cheap
It has no aperture cap. It is jumper wired to run. It is fixed focus (and not necessarily too well). It runs on two C-cell batteries. The top 1/2 of the button is cut off. The LED doesn't line up very well with the hole. It runs about 150mW-160mW. It will burn dark stuff *IF* you use an external lens to focus it

If ghetto red is good enough for you,
